Need-based financial aid is awarded on the basis of the financial need of the student. The (FAFSA) application is used for applying for aid and determining federal, state, and institutional need-based aid eligibility. The FAFSA is filed annually after October 1 of each year for the next academic year.

The deadline for new students to file their FAFSA is April 1 for priority consideration.

For dependent students, both student and one parent will each need to obtain an FSA ID to e-sign the FAFSA.
For independent students, only the student will need to obtain an FSA ID to e-sign the FAFSA.
Visit to get your FSA ID established. Keep this FSA ID in a safe place. You will use it each year you file the FAFSA and should you take out a Federal Direct Loan, you will need this same FSA ID to e-sign your Master Promissory Note.
The Office of Financial Aid will begin sending Financial Aid Award Notifications to students who are admitted to the College and for whom FAFSA data has been received by mid-February. The Financial Aid Award Notification shows the student’s eligibility for financial aid from all sources: federal, state and institutional. This financial aid may be in the form of scholarships, grants, work-study, need-based loans and non-need based loans.
